WHY A DOULA IS IMPORTANT

Should I hire a doula?

You might want to consider hiring a doula if:

  • You want to bring a warm, grounding and steady presence into your pregnancy and birth experience, someone who won’t try to rush you, fix you or override your instincts.
  • You want someone in your corner, someone who knows when to stay close and when to step back.
  • You want to bring a warm, grounding and steady presence into your pregnancy and birth experience, someone who won’t try to rush you, fix you or override your instincts.
  • You want to avoid unnecessary interventions, having as much control of your birth experience as it is possible.
  • You want to understand the evidence and make your own informed choices.
  • You want someone who can create a space where you can move through labour authentically, feeling calm, safe and connected to your baby.
  • You’ve heard stories of powerful, connected births. You feel the goosebumps if you imagine yourself like that and you wonder if you also have what it takes.
  • You want your upcoming birth experience to feel different from the previous one: maybe healing, maybe redemptive. Perhaps, you don’t want to feel angry, deceived or abandoned this time around.
  • You’re tired of unsolicited advice, projections, and fear-filled stories. You want to be treated like the capable adult you are.
  • You want to look back and know that you did everything you could to give your baby and body a chance.

How a doula can help

A doula offers grounded, continuous support – emotional, physical and practical. She helps you stay connected to your breath, your body and your inner rhythm throughout pregnancy and birth.

She walks alongside you through preparation, conversations with the maternity system and unexpected turns.

She is not there to direct, take control or impose a vision, but to ensure you are not alone in an experience that can feel intense, vulnerable and deeply personal.

As a doula I offer you a unique space where you can embrace gentleness, slowness and authenticity, a space where you can meet yourself with more awareness, instead of carrying other people’s fears, projections or expectations. This is a reflective space of depth and connection to you and your baby where you will be listened to without judgement and warmly held.

Support continues beyond birth, holding you through the early postpartum period with care, integration and community.

As a doula, I will uphold your birth vision and I will honour your birth experience, however it unfolds.
